How to Reset Explore on Instagram? What is Algorithm Reset 📲

Meta has begun allowing users to reset Instagram algorithms.Even though the awaited chronological feed is not returning with this update, it enables Instagram users to reset suggested content in the Explore page, Reels feed, and Topic feed. During the Explore reset, users also have the option to review the accounts they follow and unfollow those whose content they no longer wish to see.

Instagram warns that resetting algorithms and the Explore page might initially make the platform feel less engaging. Therefore, your feed restarts from scratch, resulting in fewer personalized recommendations. However, over time, the feed will once again adapt to your preferences. According to Instagram, "recommendations will gradually become personalized again, showing new content based on the content and accounts you interact with."

Here are some tips to quickly enhance your Instagram feed after resetting your Explore page:

• Tell Instagram what you like: On the Explore page, tap the three dots in the corner of a post you like and select "Interested."
• Block unwanted posts: If a post isn’t relevant to you, select "Not interested" from the same menu.
• Filter unwanted content: Use the "Specific Words and Phrases" feature to hide posts containing certain words or phrases in captions.
• Define sensitive content: With the Sensitive Content Control, choose the level (less/standard/more) of sensitive content you'd like to see.

These tools allow you to shape your Instagram experience without waiting for the algorithm to learn your preferences.

To reset your Explore page, follow these steps:

• Go to your profile,
• Open the Settings tab,
• Enter the Content Preferences page,
• Tap the Reset Suggested Content button.
